Cindy's cath brought good news. Her VSD's (holes) are small enough that her surgeon feels safe just taking off her PA bandand not patching them up. She still may have to be put on bypass for the band removal so she will have a midline incision. We are now waiting for Dr Lupinetti's office to call and schedule Cindy's surgery. They should call us any day now.
They called.. Cindy will have her surgery on October 6th. Now I have to struggle not to have a nervous breakdown before the big day.. :)
Cindy recieved a free beanie baby from beanie baby heaven. They saw this website and decided she deserved one. She got an elephant named peanut and her picture is on their page.
The picture on the right shows how the blood would flow through Cindy's heart with out the PA band on. Too much blood would get pushed into her lungs and the result would be pulmonary hypertension and eventually she would need a heart lung transplant. The PA band prevented that and gave Cindy time for her VSD's to grow to be small enough for her to endure without damaging her lungs.
Cindy will still have one small problem with her heart. Her Aortic valve is supposed to have three cusps but it only has two. Well actually all three of them are there is it just that two of them fused together. She does not get as much blood pumped out to her body through her aortic valve as the rest of us do. Cindy's cardiologist says it will not be a problem until she reaches her 60's.
