Cindy's Journey, congenital heart defects

...and mom's journey too!

silly Cindy, happy dog My divorce will be final soon. I do not want a divorce but my husband does and there is no point in metrying to fight it.

Cindy will have a heart cath sometime late this month or early next month. Her last echo was inconclusive so they want to do a cath to get a better idea of what is going on inside her heart. There is a 1% mortality rate associated with caths. 1% is small but it is the same chance Cindy had of being born with a heart defect.

Cindy's step-grandma is going to take the day off and come along when Cindy has her cath. Cindy has a great step grandma.

Cindy just finished a delicious meal of mom's home made lahanodolmades made with home grown cabbage along with a homegrown salad. I make lahanodolmades for Cindy almost every week, I think they are her favorite food. This week I also made maroulodolmades with my homegrown romaine lettuce. They turned out really well, now I know what to do with this years bumper crop of lettuce. It is a shame to have to throw spoiled lettuce into the compost pile when the stuff is so expensive in the supermarkets.

Mmmmm Mmmmm good homegrown raspberries We had to call an ambulance for Cindy because she cut her lip on a piece of glass. She is too defiant for her own good. We were out camping in the middle of nowhere when Cindy grabbed a shard of glass out of the fire pit. I immediately told her "no" so she tried to run away from me. Being a toddler Cindy does can not run very far without falling down. She fell down and cut her lip on the glass that was still in her hand. Blood was everywhere. I did not know where the nearest clinic was so I called 911 and three aid cars came out to look at her. I could not believe all the fuss over a cut lip, I think the volunteer fire fighters were just bored and wanted to see what was going on. The first aid car took less than five minutes to arrive in spite of us being so far from town. She did not require stitches and I did not take her to the doctor.

Today Cindy got a hold of a nickle while I was at work. Her dad was watching her when she grabbed up a nickle that fell on the floor. Heimmediately told her "no", so she tried to run away from him. Dad says suddenly Cindy got a surprised look on her face and said "uh oh" and the nickle was gone. I called a consulting nurse to see what to do about it if anything. The nurse was concerned about the size of a nickle compared to the size of Cindy. The consulting nurse is going to check with Cindy's Ped to see what she recommends. I am waiting for the nurse to call me back.
